I'm getting thoroughly tired of all the spammers in this game. They destroy the public channels and disrupt play. I really hate to see:

Player1: WTS sundering sword mod
Player2: WTB book of secrets
Player3: ------------- WTS WOOD PLANKS //////////////////
Player3: ------------- WTS WOOD PLANKS //////////////////
Player3: ------------- WTS WOOD PLANKS //////////////////
Player3: ------------- WTS WOOD PLANKS //////////////////
Player3: ------------- WTS WOOD PLANKS //////////////////

My suggestion is a toggle option that purges any message repeated within the span of a few seconds from when it was first input. This means that if Player3 spams his message 5 times one after another, and you have your spam filter on, you'd only see the first.

Sounds good, I hate seeing the same message 5 times in a row (especially when it has so many non-alphanumeric characters in it)...VERY annoying.

To tell the truth, I have no idea how they do that. My screen comes up with [this message has been inputted too recently] or something like that, and I have to wait a bit before I can repeat my message.

It's already implemented I believe, some people just got around it.

Also with the introduction of the search button, spamming has become less frequent thank god.

i reacon if someone trys spaming, all there chat optopns should be stopped for 5 minutes for every spam attempt

Haha azza wants to shutdown the fools. Can't say I blame you but that might hurt someone who isn't honestly trying to spam. Sometimes you press the up arrow and hit enter without meaning to.

5 minutes is a harsh penalty. I vote for the first option since it wasn't clearly mentioned in my first reply.

type something, then use SOMETHING ON YOUR KEYBOARD to enter it multiple times. If you're fast, you can beat the filter 5+ times. I may regret posting this, but oh well.

I'd just like Anet to crack down and obliterate all those who use the public channel for selling their lousy wares.

I think that was semi the reason for why the latest party search update has been implemented. People could just list what they were selling/buying/trading/running and not have to spam, just sit there and wait.

To bad some people don't get this idea for missions. I'm sick of people going "LFG Mission and or Bonus" when there is a perfectly good party search option
